Tuscany has been in the past an important cultural center and today is a renowned tourist destination and visited daily by many tourists who explore in its entirety; from Pisa to Lucca from Florence to Siena to San Gimignano, but it is still possible to find some places in Tuscany unspoilt and waiting to be discovered. Pistoia is a city of unique beauty that lies in the north of Tuscany, from the depths of the Italian character, a lively village, sometimes with congested traffic, at other times quiet and peaceful, so perfect place for your holidays. What makes Pistoia the hidden jewel of Tuscany? The Basilica of Our Lady of Humility has the third largest dome in Italy, after Rome and Florence. The historic center with its concentration of buildings and medieval monuments has a beautiful Piazza del Duomo, the square surrounded by ancient streets, most of which are open to traffic. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings there is a market crowded by both locals and tourists. Pistoia also boasts some stylish clothes shops and shoe stores where you can find the latest fashion items at prices far cheaper compared to other Italian cities. Almost every evening from 19:00 onwards the locals went into their favorite bar for a coffee or an aperitif, during which snacks and refreshments are served for free and people can relax with friends talking about the latest sports news and gossip.

If you want to discover the culture of Pistoia you have to see the silver altar of San Jacopo housed in the main cathedral of San Zeno (what was once a great saint), which is located in Piazza del Duomo flanked by the Bell Tower, the Baptistery octagonal San Giovanni in court and the main museum of Pistoia (Museo Civico). Also to see the facade of the church of San Giovanni Fuorcivitas in Via Cavour and the Basilica of Our Lady of Humility.
