The island is famous for its natural beauty and is often called the floating garden of the Atlantic. There is a wide choice to visit gardens and orchids nurseries. Madeira has flowers the whole year round. Several museums for example, let the history of volcanic origin, 14 million years ago, to the landing of the first aircraft at Madeira. There are many churches and chapels all over the island, with a very interesting architecture and decorations. Porto Santo is the sister island of Madeira. Totally different from Madeira primarily very green. Porto Santo has almost no vegetation and the South Coast has a beautiful 9 km long golden sandy beach. It has a lovely small village. It is possible to Porto Santo also to visit for one day. Madeira is a paradise for hikers. The irrigation system goes through man-made channels called levadas, these have a total length of 2150 km. The hiking trails are, for the most part, along the levadas. It is an excellent way to see the beautiful countryside of Madeira. There are easy, medium and difficult walks to do. You can also make boat trips, whale and dolphin spotting. There are dive schools, riding stables and golf courses. Big game fishing and paragliding are also possible here.

The island has a pleasant climate all year round, a particularly beautiful flowers and virtually no crime, making it one of the safest places on earth, where you can still walk around. The village is also known because of the huge variation in fish caught along this coast.
